Set Design & Building

The set is designed at the outset of each production in conjunction with the play’s Director. If it is particularly complicated, a model of the set is made. This helps the actors with rehearsals. If you have an eye for design and the ability to make a scaled model and would like to get involved with this aspect of the guild, please contact us for more information.

Set building can be fairly physical. It involves some carpentry skills and a lot of lifting, shifting and carrying things about to make the sets that deck the stage for each production. Once the set is built it has to painted, decorated and ‘dressed’ with props to suit the production. If you are handy with a hammer, a drill or a paintbrush and would like to offer some time and get involved in this side of things, we would love to hear from you.
